No Hunting on Valdes

Hunting on Valdes: While the hunting season for deer is now open on the coast (September 10th to December 10th) no hunting is to occur on Valdes Island.  It is not to occur on IR lands of the Lyackson Nation nor on Mosaic Forest Managements lands.  The Nation has also communicated with the Provincial Government requesting their website be updated so it is clearly understood that no hunting should occur on the Crown Lands (forest buffer) behind the cabins.  The Provincial Government website has not yet been updated and can be confusing to hunters.   Geoff Backman, Guardian lead for the Lyackson First Nation is also cognizant that hunters using the crown lands would be hunting dangerously close to the cabins within the trail network islanders use to get from one bay to another.  Please contact Geoff should you observe hunting on Valdes geoff.backman@lyackson.bc.ca  or  250-252-6195.
